Smile Dental Implants

Lost teeth? Enhance your life with permanent teeth restoration at SmileOn Family Dentistry. Unlike dentures, which can slip when you laugh or eat sticky foods, implants are secure and function like natural teeth. Enjoy the freedom to eat anything, laugh heartily, and speak confidently. Plus, you can flaunt a beautiful smile without worry. Dr. Mittal Patel provides expert care, allowing you to live more conveniently and healthily without concerns about decaying or missing teeth or unstable dentures.

What is Dental Implant

What is Dental Implant?

A dental implant is like a tiny titanium post delicately positioned into your jawbone at the site of a missing tooth. Over time, this will gradually meld with the bone, forming a durable base for a new tooth. After the implant integrates seamlessly with the jawbone, a customized crown(a replacement tooth) is affixed to the top.

Crafted to match the color, shape, and size of your natural teeth, the crown seamlessly blends in with your smile. This meticulous procedure ensures a functional and aesthetically pleasing solution for missing teeth, restoring both confidence and oral health.

Are Dental Implants Right For You?

To have a dental implant, a patient should

  • Be in overall good health
  • Maintain excellent dental hygiene
  • Have sufficient jawbone density (bone grafting or sinus lifting may be recommended for those with insufficient jawbone)
  • Be free of periodontal disease
  • Have controlled diabetes and no surgical risks (patients on systemic medications will be evaluated by the dentist to ensure compatibility with the treatment)
  • Be a non-smoker or willing to quit smoking, especially during the osseointegration process (when the titanium post is merging with the jawbone)
  • Be committed to a healthy lifestyle, diligent dental hygiene, and regular post-surgical check-ups

Advantages of Dental Implants

Depending on the number of missing teeth, one or more titanium posts may be implanted during the procedure. Using pressure-controlled drills, the dentist inserts these posts into your jawbone. Some patients may need preparatory procedures before placing the new artificial roots. If there is insufficient jawbone, bone grafting may be required to create a sturdy base and increase bone density. If bone grafting is necessary, you need to allow six to nine months for your jaw to heal completely and for the titanium posts to integrate with your jaw. If bone grafting is not needed, you can immediately receive regular or mini dental implants, depending on the missing tooth and jawbone area. Mini dental implants are smaller in diameter than traditional ones. A healing period of four to six months, called osseointegration, allows the gums and bone to fuse around the artificial root. During the restoration stage, you will have 2-3 dental appointments where your dentist will evaluate the healing of the surgical area. During the recuperation phase, a customized restoration is fabricated in the lab to be ready once the area has fully healed. Once the surgical site has healed completely, the new restorations will be placed, giving you single, multiple teeth, or dentures that look and feel natural and provide a beautiful smile. With proper care, permanent implants can last a lifetime.

Your dental restorations will last you longer if you observe and follow a proper oral health care. Remember, they are like your natural teeth, brush them at least twice per day and floss at least once per day.
